Film and Digital Times came about shortly after I had completed the ARRICAM Book. Emails started coming in asking, “where is the Arriflex 235 Book?” Technology is not waiting for the year it takes to crank out a book. FDTimes comes out every two months — keeping all of us up to date with the latest information.
One aside. You’ll notice a lot of the books are about Arriflex or Arricam cameras. I don’t work for ARRI. I’m a freelance Director and Cinematographer. I just happened to own a lot of these cameras, and wrote about what I knew. I wrote about them because I couldn’t understand the factory manuals, and figured no one else on the crew could either. So these books were partly done to protect my investments, some of which were still being paid off to skittish bankers who couldn’t comprehend why something that cost more than a house wasn’t transported in an armored vehicle or stored in a vault, but instead was shipped in a little, padded case.
Here are some of the books we’ve done, and some we recommend — all available from the ASC Bookstore.
